Beach Ritual

We have a ritual.  It has to be performed at least a few times each summer.

In no absolute order it consists of the following:

Ice cream (sorbet) with a visit to the goats, chickens, and donkeys (if they're willing to say hello).

Winery.  Tasting, buying and wandering the beautiful grounds.  This particular time, J made me drink most of his since he was driving us around.  As has been the case every time I go, we got a very cool tasting guide who chatted us up and poured us very large glasses of everything on the list, plus a few extras, just because.  I was very tipsy before we had even wrapped up the tasting.

Next, we head over to the brewery, because, ...well, it just seems like the right thing to do.  Another full size tasting, a few growlers purchased, and we were off to the beach!

I didn't get any photos from that particular beach day.  I was too busy being tipsy and chasing waves with my board.  It was a little more weedy than usual and the waves were not the most amazing I'd ever seen there, but it was a great day.

Next stop is No Prob for burritos! Veggie with guac and a ton of both of their hot sauces.

Then home, see off our beach ritual companions, hug the pups and pass out.

Soundtrack for this particular beach ritual day mainly provided by:
Pixies
Ramones
The Cramps

It's What's For Dinner

Vegan grilled cheese:

This photo does not do proper justice for its subject.  This is not just your average vegan grilled cheese, obviously.  THIS is my favorite vegan grilled cheese, the specialty of my dear Kitchen Wizard's grilled cheese repertoire.  THIS is Daiya cheddar and jack with sliced (and lightly grilled) tomato, avocado, and walnut cilantro pesto.  THIS is my little slice of Heaven/Nirvana/Fólkvangr (or, at least, what it looks like before it goes to its happy home in my belly).

Dahlias - the Begining

I loooooooooooooooove dahlias.
I love all the varieties, from poms to laciniated to waterliliy.
I love them all.

Today, on a trip to our local greenhouse, I found two more beautiful dahlia plants.
I brought them home with me and made them cozy in the backyard garden.

Welcome to your new home, pretty flowers!
